Dresses
Use a photo that shows as much of you as the dress covers. A full-length dress on a head-and-shoulders photo makes the AI invent the rest of the picture.
Shopping online? Put the product photo next to your own and see the piece on you before it ships.
Three steps between a product page and a decision.
Use a recent, well-lit photo of yourself. Then save the main product picture from the shop page, or take a screenshot of it, and upload it as the clothing image.
Pick the size from the retailer’s chart with the guide further down. The preview looks the same whichever size you order, so size is settled by measurements, not by the picture.
Press Try It On. Within about a minute you get a picture of yourself wearing the item, with a slider to compare it against your original photo.

The preview answers “does this suit me?”. Measurements answer “will it fit?”. Check both before you pay.
| Clothing | Measure | How to take it | When comparing with the chart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tops and shirts | Chest | Around the fullest part, tape level under the arms | Between two sizes, look at the listed garment length as well |
| Dresses | Bust, waist, hips | Waist at the narrowest point, hips at the widest | For fitted styles, go by your largest measurement |
| Outerwear | Chest, shoulders | Shoulders from seam to seam across the back | Leave room for the layers you will wear underneath |
| Suits and tailoring | Shoulders, chest, sleeve, inseam | Sleeve from the shoulder seam to the wrist bone | Start with the shoulders: they are the hardest part to alter |
| Trousers and skirts | Waist, hips, inseam | Waist where you actually wear the waistband | Rise and inseam change from one cut to the next |
| Fit | How it sits | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Slim | Close to the body with little spare fabric | Check the chest and thigh figures carefully |
| Regular | Follows the body with some ease | Your usual size in that brand is the starting point |
| Relaxed | Noticeably roomy through the body and sleeves | Meant to be loose, so sizing down changes the look |
| Oversized | Deliberately large, with dropped shoulders | Compare the garment length so it does not swamp you |
Size charts differ between brands and countries. Use the chart on the product page you are buying from, and read its return policy.
For a preview you can trust, start with a photo that works for virtual try-on, and before you order, run through how to buy clothes online with fewer returns.
How each kind of clothing behaves in a preview, including where it struggles.
Use a photo that shows as much of you as the dress covers. A full-length dress on a head-and-shoulders photo makes the AI invent the rest of the picture.
The category we have seen come out most consistently. T-shirts, shirts, blouses and knits preview well from a plain, front-on product photo.
Jackets and coats are placed over the body. What you wear underneath may be redrawn to match the product photo.
Upload a product photo that shows the whole suit. The preview covers colour and cut; sleeve and trouser length still come from the size chart.
Layered and draped garments such as a kimono, sari or hanbok are harder. Folds and ties may be simplified, so treat the picture as a rough impression.
Bags, scarves and hats are the least dependable. The try-on model is built for garments, so an accessory may be skipped or redrawn.
Questions shoppers ask before the first preview.
Not yet. The fitting room needs an image, not a web address. Open the product page, save the main product photo or take a screenshot, and upload that as the clothing image.
No. It shows how the colour and style of the item look on you. It knows neither your measurements nor the garment’s, so choose the size with the retailer’s chart and the guide on this page.
The clearest picture of the item by itself or on a model facing the camera. Avoid collages, photos with several products in them, and shots where the item is partly hidden.
Your first preview is free once you sign in with Google, with no payment details. Further previews use try-ons from a one-time pack, with no subscription.
It is sent to our AI try-on provider to make the preview; the provider holds the finished picture for one day. This site saves the preview and the photos it was made from privately in My Looks, so you can come back to them. Only you can see them, and you can delete them there at any time.
No. It settles one doubt before you order: whether the piece suits you. How the fabric feels, how much it stretches and exactly how it fits still take the real item, so keep the return policy in mind.
